IAS 2015 Exam Pattern

In this section, we are giving the Exam pattern of IAS. Candidates make your schedule and strategy according to this.

IAS exam is conducted in three parts.

  • Preliminary exam (written)
  • Main exam (written and interview)
  • Interview

Preliminary exam:

This exam will consist two papers of objective types in which the questions will be multiple choices. Exam will be of 400 marks.

Main exam:

It will consist of written exams and interview. Written exam will contain 9 papers of conventional essays and then according to the marks that have been obtained by the contenders in written examination and interview for personality test will be counted for ranking.


Candidates who qualify both Preliminary and main exam will be called for final interview.
